Challenge: Merge two existing organizations into one well-known brand to best serve Oregon’s private colleges and universities. Develop a website that illustrates the facts and conveys student outcomes.
Solution: The Alliance, also known as Oregon Alliance of Independent Colleges and Universities, was once an association and a foundation. Both organizations embraced an industry trend to merge, forming a unified voice that better represents Oregon’s regionally accredited, not-for-profit colleges and universities. With two brands to blend, we began our process with an exploration into who The Alliance wanted to be as well as who they wanted to serve. We crafted messaging for a unique brand position that set the stage for developing the visual components of the brand.
The logo identity illustrates forward movement and collaboration across sectors. Vibrant colors were chosen to express their strength and vitality; also to separate themselves from the standard institutional tones commonly used among colleges and universities. Brand standards were implemented to maintain consistency across all marketing channels.
With no shortage of information, the website was constructed to share why private colleges matter. Facts, resources, and access to member institutions turn visitors into educated decision makers. The Alliance facilitates an annual event, Oregon Private Colleges Week, to invite prospective students and their families to visit the campuses and learn more about the opportunities offered at each private college.
